What does every legendary guitarist have in common? They all use a guitar strap.
Every guitar player needs a guitar strap. They may not be as visually impressive as a guitar amp or evoke the same feeling of awe as a boutique effects pedal but they’re just as important, especially if you plan on playing your guitar standing up. Whether your play the electric guitar, acoustic guitar or bass guitar, with the right guitar strap you can play and perform with complete confidence. A quality strap is worth investing in because, as well as looking great, it’ll last you for many gigs to come. There’s no point pairing your expensive Fender, Gibson or PRS with a strap that’ll snap in the heat of an intense guitar solo.
We’re proud to offer durable, comfortable stylish straps from all the best-selling guitar strap brands, including Ernie Ball, Fender, D’Addario, Dunlop, DiMarzio, Levys, BOSS, Taylor Guitars and Tiger. Whether you’re looking at innovative nylon straps with auto-locking mechanisms or classic leather straps, we’re ready to ship our guitar straps UK-wide with next-day delivery. No matter what kind of guitar you play, we’ve got a strap for all guitar types and guitarists.
Having trouble navigating our huge range of guitar straps and deciding which one is right for you? Head down to our Brighton store, where our friendly and knowledgeable guitar experts are ready to help you find the perfect one. Alternatively, you can contact us online, over the phone or via email.
Looking to complete your guitar setup? We also have other essential guitar accessories such as guitar stands, guitar cases, strings, cables, plectrums and pedal boards in stock.
How to attach a guitar strap?
To attach an electric guitar strap, you usually push the two strap buttons through the holes at each end of the strap. Once the strap is attached, hold the neck with your left hand (right hand if you’re left-handed) and the guitar strap with the other. Next, lift the strap over your head and rest the strap on your left shoulder (or right shoulder if you’re left-handed).
Some acoustic guitars only have one strap button, often located underneath the body. To accommodate this, you can buy a dedicated acoustic guitar strap that can be tied to the headstock.
Experiment with different strap heights to find the one that’s most comfortable for you. Some guitarists like Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro, Robert Fripp of King Crimson and Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes prefer their straps up high whilst other players such as Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and James Hetfield of Metallica wear their guitars low.
Do all guitar straps fit all guitars?
Guitar straps are often universal, which means they can be attached to any electric guitar, bass guitar or acoustic guitar with two strap buttons. Some acoustic guitar straps have a hole for a strap button at one end and need to be tied to the headstock at the other. This is because a lot of acoustic guitars only have one strap button.
Are guitar strap locks worth it?
If you’ve ever played the guitar at a gig only to have your strap come off, you’ll know how awkward it can be. A guitar with strap locks will give you peace of mind and ensure your strap stays on, no matter how intensely you’re performing on stage. Put simply, strap locks are absolutely essential if you’re performing with your guitar.
